Monika serves Soul Shepherding as a Spiritual Director.
She grew up in Germany from where she went to Niger, West Africa to work as a nurse-midwife in a mission hospital. There she met her husband Mark and together they spent an additional five years overseas. Monika has been part of Bible Study Fellowship, Moms in Prayer, has served on a church mission committee, and most recently on the leadership team of a micro-church plant.
In 2017, Monika earned a Masters of Divinity from Covenant Bible Seminary (Lakewood, Washington). In 2022, she completed the Soul Shepherding Spiritual Direction certificate training.
Monika was drawn to Soul Shepherding through Bill Gaultiere’s article “Abandoning Outcomes” – a journey she still finds herself on. God has used Soul Shepherding, spiritual direction and soul friendships to help her come to a deeper understanding (head) and experience (heart) of being beloved by Christ. This has been such a gift and invaluable in walking with deeper trust and surrender to Jesus and finding more peace and joy. Monika counts it as a privilege to prayerfully listen and co-discern with others where God might be extending an invitation to live more fully into His shalom.
Monika is fluent in German and English. She likes to bake (bread and scones), garden (more or less successfully but trying), and to enjoy a hot latte with a friend. Monika and her husband Mark have been residing in Steilacoom, Washington for many years and are delighted to visit their two adult sons, lovely daughters-in-law and grandson in California and Texas whenever they can.
