In this season, you may forget that it only takes a moment to satisfy your soul in your Savior. In the temptations of our life, we may struggle to find happiness.
But our joy is in Jesus right now!
This morning I took a prayer walk along the lake, among the flowers, and under the blue sky. I prayed Psalm 16 out loud for me and for you. I found great pleasure in God’s word, his creation, his presence in my midst.
Thank you Holy Spirit, Parkletos, my Friend, Advocate, and Strengthener who always reminds me of Jesus!
I invite you to take a moment now to walk through Psalm 16 with me. Satisfy your soul!
Praying Psalm 16
Keep me safe, O God, for in you my soul takes refuge.
People criticize me. Friends reject me. Circumstances frighten me. But I look to God my Father and I say to myself, “Satisfy your soul in God. Here is your secret safe place.”
You are my Lord and apart from you I have no good thing.
Truly, God, you are my great good. All the possible good things before me today are worthless unless they draw me into the embrace of Christ Jesus, my righteousness.
I delight in your holy people in my midst.
They help me to feel the warmth of your presence.
You have assigned me my portion. The boundary lines have fallen in pleasant places for me. Surely I have a delightful inheritance.
You make the flowers beautiful. You make the sun to shine. You put the lake at peace. You are the One who makes us to shine with your beauty and to be at peace.
Truly, Lord, our happiness is not in the approval of others, in Facebook “likes” or our bank accounts. Our security is not in human government.
We have the hundred-fold happiness in the heavens and we’re tapping into these treasures now! Being in your kingdom is so pleasant and delightful! You are my portion forever!
I have set the Lord always before me; because he is at my right hand I will not be shaken.
Ahh, yes, I keep turning my thoughts to be enthralled with you, my Lord…
Dear Father, always near…
Precious Jesus, our strong Savior…
Parakletos, our continual breath of life…
Therefore my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices! My body also will rest secure, because you will not abandon me to the grave, nor will you let your Holy One see decay.
I know I’ll live in your presence forever because Jesus Christ died on the cross for my sins and he rose from the dead, conquering sin, death, and hell! Because he lives I live!
You make known to me the path of life; you fill me with joy in your presence and eternal pleasures at your right hand.
