Mexico Mission Trip

“Turning to the Shepherd of our souls” (1 Peter 2:25)

Our family just returned from our first Soul Shepherding mission trip to Mexico. Thank you so much for your prayers and support!

We experienced firsthand how God exceeds our hopes when we venture out beyond our comfort zone into a new challenge with our confidence in Christ.

In Kristi’s words…

Everything this trip called for from me was an area I was weak in. Quite honestly, Mexican culture is hard for me. Usually when I am there I am overwhelmed by the suffering and filth and foul smell and it either drains me emotionally or I shut down to cope.

But on this trip I was able to do things well with Jesus, by His power and for His glory: Hammer and lift to help build two houses for poor families even though I’m not strong in body, feed 70 people lunch, help little Mexican children make crafts even though I don’t speak Spanish and my kids laugh at me when I try.

The entire time I felt the joy of the Lord as my strength!

We did street evangelism…

Jennie and I (Bill) shared our testimonies to a group of 100 people in the street and 65 prayed to receive Christ – knowing that it meant registering to complete a three-month long discipleship group! We then helped to pass out a Bible and workbook to each one.

We provided Soul Shepherding to ministry leaders…

I served as the pastor to our mission team by leading devotions with Scripture meditation and prayers, guiding conversation and prayer in small groups and in the large community, and offering counseling and prayer to individuals and couples with personal needs. As a group we abided in Christ to bear fruit!

And I met and prayed at length with bi-lingual Mexican pastors and missionaries, including Pastor Daniel who has planted twelve churches in the area and two of the leaders of Baja Christian Ministries who made the house building and street evangelism happen. Exciting plans are developing for me to offer ongoing counseling, spiritual mentoring, seminars, and retreats for these missionaries to Mexico.

Thank you for your prayers and support! We are preparing for me to be full time offering Soul Shepherding to pastors and leaders by the end of 2010.
