Dr. Russ Rainey owns New Direction Christian Coaching, is a Board Certified Coach, and also an Ordained Minister. His mission is to serve Christ- followers, Pastors, Church Staff, and Church Leaders who want to enhance their personal and spiritual vitality so they may more effectively disciple others.
For over 30 years Russ has discipled others through local church ministries such as Pastoral Counseling, Support and Recovery groups, and one-on-one Discipleship Coaching. He has served in five large churches and a Christian non-profit, Matthew 28 Ministries, where he was Vice President of Coaching Services. Russ received Master’s and Doctor’s degrees in Christian Psychology from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and has taught in a Christian university and seminary setting. His love has always been discipleship, both the “ancient paths” and the emerging “creative paths.”
It was Russ’ continuing search for effective spiritual formation resources that led him to partner with Soul Shepherding. His hobbies include outdoor activities, reading history, and playing guitar.
Russ currently lives in Raleigh, North Carolina, where he and his wife get to enjoy family and grandsons.
