Karen Mees serves at Soul Shepherding as a Senior Spiritual Director and Soul Friend.
She is born and raised in Texas, and joined her spouse in ministry as a young newlywed wife. Karen and husband Merle have served churches in Texas, Kansas and Missouri for more than 35 years. After raising two sons, she completed a graduate degree in Counseling at Midwestern Theological Seminary. Karen is a Licensed Counselor in Missouri and has worked in non-profits, group practice and now operates a private Christian counseling practice in Liberty, Missouri.
Karen came to Soul Shepherding Institute looking for training in spiritual direction. What she found was an authentic, safe community that cared for her soul, as a ministry wife and a counselor near burnout. The Spiritual renewal she experienced led her to a fresh desire to walking alongside others in need of a soul friend. Karen finds great joy is helping individuals, ministry leaders and couples grow beyond a weary life to grow further in their journey and experience with Jesus.
Karen enjoys culinary arts, offering hospitality in her home as well as reading and writing. She is a lover of coffee and her dogs Lucy and Samson. She and her husband Merle live in Kansas City , Missouri.
