Rejoice! The Lord is Judge

As Christians today we talk a lot about the love and grace of God, but we don’t talk much about him being the holy Judge — that seems scary or harsh to us. And yet repeatedly the Psalmist rejoices that the Lord is the Judge. He approaches God’s judgment seat not with fear or shame, but with eager confidence, trusting that the Lord will accept him and set everything right.

Negative Emotions

Negative emotions. We all have them. We all have struggled with how to deal with emotions like worry, anger, depression, shame, ambition, lust, and jealousy—even a psychologist like me who has devoted 24 years to helping people overcome emotional problems.

Of course, having an emotion isn’t a problem—it’s normal. But how do we respond to troubling emotions? That’s the issue.

Emotions become “negative” when they are internalized or acted on in ways that harm yourself or others. Many of the ministry leaders and other Christ followers that we talk to struggle with negative emotions.

Like a seashell we can echo with God's waves of love

I find it a great blessing to spend time at the ocean, a lake, or a river. Immersed in God’ beauty I relax. Surrounded by the sounds of flowing water it’s easier for me to hear God’s voice.

I know a secret safe place always available to you. When you feel guilty or sad, when you feel alone, no matter what is going on for you there is a refuge for you in the arms of Jesus. His Spirit will encircle you.

Smile with Jesus in your Heart!

If you were asked, “What is love?” How would you answer?

Most people define love by expressions of care or generosity, which are essential to love. Or worse, we define love by having desire or emotion.

Very few of us would define love as the Apostle Paul did, beginning by saying: “Love is patient…” (1 Corinthians 13:4). Why does Paul focus on patience? For many of us, patience is very difficult! You know the joke, “Never pray for patience!”
