Prayer Hike: Lift Up Your Eyes!

July 16, 2016
8:30 – 11:30 am (Saturday)

Led by Bill Gaultiere

Sponsored by Voyagers’ Bible Church in Irvine and Michael Risley (Prayer and Disciplemaking Pastor)

Jesus did a lot of walking and praying! Let’s join him for a prayer hike or walk (at your own pace) in Bommer Canyon. Or you can choose to walk the Shady Canyon Trail. We’ll start at the Turtle Rock Community Park in Irvine at the picnic tables by the playground.

Getting out in the beauty of nature and setting out on a trail is a great way to connect with God. It’s all the better when you have like-spirited brothers and sisters in Christ joining you!

This event is free and open to visitors!

Retreat Theme and Flow

The theme of this half-day retreat and prayer hike comes from Psalm 121: “I lift up my eyes to the hills — where does my help come from? My help comes from the LORD, the maker of heaven and earth.”

To start we’ll gather in community for about half an hour, drawing nourishment from this Pilgrim Psalm. Bill will show you how to pray this psalm of protection and guidance to help you “abide” in the presence of Christ as you journey through life.

Then on your 90-120 minute hike or walk you can experiment with praying Psalm 121 for your summer vacations, life decisions, or guidance and protection for yourself and loved ones.

Bill will provide a one page, easy to hold, handout with Psalm 121 and some guidance.

We’ll conclude our prayer hike back at the park and Bill will guide us for 30 minutes to process and pray.
