Bill Gaultiere, Ph.D. is a psychologist (CA PSY12036), spiritual director, and ordained pastor.
Bill works full time for Soul Shepherding, a donor supported ministry to pastors, pastors’ wives, missionaries, and other ministry leaders and caregivers. His wife Kristi, also a psychotherapist and spiritual director, assists Bill in this ministry, with a special emphasis on pastors’ wives and women in ministry. In counseling, spiritual mentoring, soul care groups, seminars, and retreats Bill and Kristi help people to connect honestly and deeply with Christ in ways that facilitate soul transformation.
Bill understands pastoral ministry. He has served on a church staff as a spiritual formation pastor and also as a director of a lay counseling ministry (in a period of 14 years he trained over 1,000 Christian lay counselors). He has helped with a church plant and has worked to bring renewal to an established large church. He has provided spiritual mentoring and consultation with elder boards and the staffs of churches and nonprofit ministries.
Bill speaks at many churches and Christian conferences. Also he has taught courses in psychology and spirituality at the graduate school level for Azusa Pacific University, Hope International University, and California Graduate School of Theology.
Bill is author of four books, including You Can Live in Jesus’ Easy Yoke: With His Rhythms of Grace for your Daily Stress. Bill’s personal mission statement is “Being with Jesus to become like him.” His life and ministry have been profoundly shaped by many years of personal mentoring from Ray Ortlund Sr. and Dallas Willard. Bill enjoys time with Kristi and his children, hiking, jogging, praying the Psalms, reading the classics of Christian devotion, spiritual writing, and spending extended time in silence and solitude with Jesus, especially in nature.
