A Soul Shepherding Bible Study

Imagine what you’re life would be like if you completely trusted God as your loving Father. These Bible verses on the Father’s love will help!
Jesus showed us that the Almighty God is our Abba Father! Our dear Papa! (Mark 14:36). The Holy Spirit lives in the heart of all of us who follow Jesus and he intercedes for us from deep within, crying out, “Abba Father” (Romans 8:15; Galatians 6:4).
Our image (concept) of God is the most important thing about us. It determines our relationship with God, others, and ourselves. Many people we talk with need healing in their image of God. Do you? Your answer to this question will tell you: Can you look back over your whole life and say, “My Father God has always been good to me.”? If not, your heart is hurting and your image of God needs healing. You need help experiencing the Abba love of God.
Bible Verses on the Father’s Love
There are many Bible verses on the Father’s love for us. Here are a few that have been especially helpful in my own growing intimacy with God as my Abba and in our ministry to pastors, leaders, caregivers, and other servants of the Lord. These are some of the healing verses from the Bible that are in the much-appreciated “God’s Love Letter to You” that I wrote many years ago.
Let these words of life from Scripture seep on down into your heart. Consider how much your heavenly Father loves you! (All Bible verses are from the NIV84 unless indicated otherwise.)
“[The Father] guarded him as the apple of his eye.” (Deuteronomy 32:10)
“A Father to the fatherless, a defender of widows, is God in his holy dwelling. God sets the lonely in families, he leads forth the prisoners with singing.” (Psalm 68:5-6)
“O Lord you are our Father. We are the clay, you are the potter; we are the work of your hands.” (Isaiah 64:8)
“Your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.” (Matthew 6:4)
“Your Father knows what you need before you ask him.” (Matthew 6:8)
“Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your Heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?” (Matthew 6:26)
“If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!” (Matthew 7:11)
“Your Father in heaven is not willing that any one of these little ones should be lost.” (Matthew 18:14)
“But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion for him; he ran to his son, threw his arms around him and kissed him… But the father said to his servants, `Quick! Bring the best robe and put it on him. Put a ring on his finger and sandals on his feet. Bring the fattened calf and kill it. Let’s have a feast and celebrate. For this son of mine was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.’” (Luke 15:20b, 22-24)
“Jesus answered, `I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me…. Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father.” (John 14:6,9)
“And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor [or Comforter] to be with you forever – the Spirit of Truth.” (John 14:16)
“The Father will give you whatever you ask in [Jesus’] name.” (John 15:16)

“I will be a Father to you and you will be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty.” (2 Corinthians 6:18 & 2 Samuel 7:14)
“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ. For he chose us…. In love he predestined us to be adopted as his [children].” (Ephesians 1:3-5)
